Leslie's Presentation
In her presentation she was talking about why do people judge. Even thought judging is a bad thing, its like criticizing. It sad that everybody does it though. It's like something everybody does on a day to day basis. She said people often do this to put down others, so they can better themselves in some way. Or when someone is just plain depressed and trying to get attention.

GATSBY NOTES 1
"Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone just remember that all the people in this world
haven't had the advantages that you've had"
perpetual: Continuing forever
clan: a Celtic group especially in the Scottish Highlands comprising a number of households whose heads claim descent from a common ancestor
prominent: standing out or projecting beyond a surface or line
scorn: open dislike and disrespect or derision often mixed with indignation
MUSIC AS LITERATURE
Personally I would say that music can be used as literature, and is literature because music tells stories and you can possibly understand it if you play close attention to the music. A novel is a well organized section of scenes. A poem is a short version of a story a poem tells many stories but has many verses and sometimes the poems rhyme. A rap is still a song but a rap usually tells a story, rap has many rhymes in it. But a song isn't the same I don't know what the difference is. A song doesn't really tell a story, a song tells feelings and other personal things but it kinda depends on what song.

Genesis: The Background of my Big Question
My big question was why do people lie. The reason I always ask myself this question is because I always think its really important to be honest even if you are gonna hurt someone's feelings it's for the best. Like in some cases people lie to not get themselves exposed for example when someone cheats on someone they don't tell them the truth so they won't hurt the other person or other part of the story when they just want to have fun. I think it's important to always tell the truth even if it means hurting someone else.

THE CHASE IS ON
1) The hound attacked Montag I don't know why but I think its because Montag killed Beatty and the firemen somehow told the dog to attack Montag but the hound died
2) Montag defended himself because he didn't want to die.
3) Montag then realized the Beatty had always wanted to die. Beatty wanted to die so badly that he made of fun of Montag and annoyed him while Montag was armed. He wanted Montag to kill him
4) Montag went to go get help.
5) I don't know what happened but he crossed the street really paranoid and he heard a car coming from 2 blocks away and he thought that for sure it was the cops.

MONTAG KILLS
I think that the reason he turned the flame thrower at him is because it came to a point when he just got tired of Beatty. It also seemed that Beatty was being annoying too when he got killed.

Gatsby Chapter 8
universal theme- DEATH
humidor: Container or storage room for cigars or other preparation of tobacco, fitted with means for keeping the tobacco suitably moist
tranquil: Free from commotion or tumult, peaceful, quiet, calm
Magical writing: "closer in their month of love nor communicated more profoundly one with another, than when she brushed silent lips against his coat's shoulder or when he touched the end of her fingers, gently, as though she were asleep"
abruptly: Suddenly or unexpectedly
"Everything in fall dies"
